We’re here to keep everyone in the family smiling!
From birth, start washing your baby’s gums with a soft, clean washcloth after feeding to clear away oral bacteria. Once a tooth emerges, begin careful use of infant toothbrushes and baby-safe toothpaste in tiny amounts (grain of rice-sized under the age of two, pea-sized for ages two through five). Once two or more teeth touch, careful flossing should become part of your little one’s daily oral hygiene routine.
Even with dedicated brushing and flossing, there may be places that your child’s toothbrush can’t go. If Dr. Bo and Dr. Christina recommend sealants, it is usually when first molars form (about age six) or permanent molars appear (around age twelve). Sealants decrease the likelihood of cavity development and last an average of about three years.
Millions of teeth are knocked out playing sports each year. Inexpensive sporting-goods store mouthguards don’t fit well, are uncomfortable and wear out quickly, so they are less likely to be worn when needed. Mullica Hill Family Dental can custom-fit a mouthguard for your star athlete to protect their teeth, jaw, and head—and you can cheer them on with less worry!
Despite your child’s best efforts, cavities can happen and need to be filled. Drs. Bo and Christina Levitsky can fill cavities using a variety of different materials that will depend on the size of filling needed, whether the tooth being filled is primary or permanent, and other factors.
If your child’s tooth is badly decayed or broken, a crown may be needed to restore it to full working order. Crowns are tooth-shaped caps that fit over existing healthy tooth structure that allow the tooth to perform at full health. A crown can protect your child’s tooth and improve oral health.
Dental concerns change as kids enter adolescence—usually their biggest concern becomes about how their teeth look and whether they are straight and white. Depending on age and dental situation, Mullica Hill Family Dental offers Invisalign Teen® and Zoom® Whitening. When wisdom teeth appear, Drs. Bo and Christina Levitsky will be ready to assist!
